Global health field has expended substantial time and resources on the "first 1000 days" of life, the next 7000 days , encompassing middle childhood and adolescence , has been comparatively neglected.
Adolescence is a unique stage of development and an important time for laying the foundations of good health.
It is a formative phase when they go through key mental, sociological and physical development and growth milestones. In the course of their development, they also face numerous physical and mental health challenges. Many physical as well as mental health problems are preventable.
This is more pronounced in our country due to lack of access to information, counselling, and services to manage these problems.
Adolescents constitute 21% of India’s population and their health problems are magnified by industrialization and globalization.
Investing on health and wellbeing of this critical age group will help to have better demographic dividend.
All the caretakers pediatricians/adolescent health specialists ,parents , teachers have to be empowered to tackle these issues. Many problems are often rooted in high risk behaviors, life style that are diagnosed not with laboratory tests but with detailed H/O (HEEADSSS) careful physical examination, through counselling.
IAP-Adolescent health academy always have worked towards this goal by conducting CMEs, seminars, conferences ,workshops, orientation programs.
In the past AHA has already organized many programs involving basic adolescent health care
But realizing the need of new developments to uplift the adolescent health care Team AHA 2023 has conceptualized this workshop involving eminent faculty.
This will train pediatricians and in turn this knowledge will percolate in their respective places by conducting this workshop.
