Background

The management of pediatric emergencies in an ambulatory care setting can be challenging because they are uncommon events requiring specialized skills that need to be performed in a time-sensitive manner. On the other hand, for most parents and caregivers, the primary pediatrician is whom they trust; hence, they will still seek them despite having potentially severe life-threatening illnesses and injuries. The Emergency Medicine System is still underdeveloped in India, therefore the onus is on the primary care Pediatrician [PCP] who receives this child, to ensure the stabilization and quick transfer of the sick child to avoid both social and legal problems.
